The Safe Place to Grieve Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to providing education and support to grieving persons of all ages, all races and all ethnic backgrounds regardless of ability to pay.
The Safe Place to Grieve Foundation, Inc. was established in 2003 as a 501c3 non-profit organization to offer a safe place for the bereaved, their families, friends and caregivers to learn about the grieving process in a supportive environment. Services include on-going support groups offered at various times of the day, a lending library, educational programs, and internship opportunities among others. Karen Carney, R.N., LCSW, FT - co-founder of the foundation, is often the professional of choice to be called into a school system, work environment, or health care institution to provide supportive and educational programs during a crisis.
The D'Esopo Family founded the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel in 1905, and began a tradition of community service which has extended over a century. In 1995, to celebrate their 90th year, the D'Esopo-Pratt Resource Center was founded to offer a safe place for the bereaved, their families, friends and caregivers to learn about the grieving process in a supportive environment. In 2003, the Safe Place to Grieve Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was established with the vision of expanding our services and making those services available to the general public through rants and charitable donations. The D'Esopo -Pratt Resource Center provides the Safe Place to Grieve Foundation with shared use of office and other space to conduct its programs and services.
